About PBJ Music

PBJ Music Publications was originally founded in 1996 by Nancy Plourde, Anita Belansky and Julie Johnson. The company is now owned by Nancy Plourde in San Antonio, Texas, and Julie Johnson in Yorba Linda, California.

JULIE'S BIO
Julie Johnson received degrees in Master of Music in Piano Pedagogy and Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance from the University of Redlands. Her experience includes teaching piano, theory, and ear training at the University of Redlands, class piano at the University of Oregon, and classes for young children at the Yamaha Research and Development Center in La Mirada, California. She was author of the MTAC Certificate of Merit Keyboard Theory Tests for the years 1994-1996. Presently, Ms. Johnson resides in Yorba Linda, California, where she lives with her husband, two sons, and a variety of pets (two dogs, a cat, a frog, and, yes, an iguana).

NANCY'S BIO
Nancy Plourde received a Bachelor of Music degree in piano and music education from Oberlin Conservatory, a B.A. degree from University of Maryland, and has done graduate study at American University in Washington D.C. as well as the University of Virginia. She has taught piano and performed for over 35 years in Maryland, Virginia, Germany and California and currently in San Antonio, Texas.

After establishing a computer lab in her studio in 1993, she became interested in learning programming in order to develop computer theory materials which were fun for students to use but still provided practice in essential theory skills. The result was PBJ Computer Activities.

She has two grown children and one adorable grandson, and resides in San Antonio with her husband, Rene, and four music-loving cats.
